The Art Mecho Museum was a project to build an art museum within the virtual online world of Second Life. The museum was conceived as a laboratory for thinking about issues involved in reading and critiquing animation, particularly Japanese anime and manga.
The museum was built by me, Christopher Bolton, in collaboration with students and Instructional Technology staff at Williams College. The museum no longer exists inside Second Life, but I am working on a web site that would document the museum and its exhibits. In the meantime, those who are interested may wish to read an article I wrote about the museum: "Virtual Creation, Simulated Destruction, and Manufactured Memory at the Art Mecho Museum in Second Life" by Christopher Bolton, in Mechademia 4: War/Time, edited by Frenchy Lunning (University of Minnesota Press, 2009), pp. 198-210.
If you have questions about the museum, please feel free to contact me at the address on my main web page, where you can also learn more about my other work.
